In-patient services provided at the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital include:

· Pre-surgical and post surgical assessments and consultations;

· Diagnostic assistance for suspected malignancies;

· Diagnostic assistance for anemias, hypercoagulable states, bleeding disorders; blood transfusion problems,

· Management of chemotherapy complications, including febrile neutropenias;

· Palliative therapy of metastatic cancers;

· Intrathecal medication of craniospinal malignancies;

· Pre-chemotherapy consultation for management of early breast and colo-rectal cancers;

· Combined modality management of rectal and esophageal cancers, etc.
